A rectory of the St. Paul's by-the-Sea Episcopal Church will be demolished, according to a decision by the leaders of the church. The rectory was destroyed in a fire that killed the pastor.

The rectory was destroyed in fire on Nov. 16.

Last month the leaders of the church decided to demolish the rectory instead of renovating the structure, ccording to a church newsletter.

However, church leaders have not specified as to when the rectory will be demolished.

The fire was caused by a man named John Sterner, 56 year old, who poured gasoline on himself and ran into the church, said Ocean City Fire Marshal's Office. The fire spread from him to the church structure and destroyed the rectory.

Sterner the church's pastor, the Rev. David Dingwall, died in the fire. While a woman was injured in the fire incident.
