Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra’s position as the UNICEF Goodwill ambassador is under peril as Pakistan's Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari, who recently demanded that she should be removed from the post as she supported India in the ongoing Indo-Pak tension, now shared a letter sent to UNICEF referring to Priyanka as the Goodwill ambassador of peace.

The letter says: "Ms Chopra has publicly endorsed Indian government position on Kashmir and also supported the nuclear threat issued to Pakistan by the Indian Defence Minister. All this goes completely against the principles of peace and goodwill that Ms Chopra is supposed to uphold as an UN Goodwill Ambassador for Peace, (sic)"

Mazari's Letter to the UN Reads:

"I wish to draw the attention to the issue of Ms priyanka Chopra whom you have appointed as a UN Goodwill Ambassador for Peace. The recent crisis in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) has been the result of the Modi government's violation of all international conventions that it is a signatory to, along with UNSC resolutions as well as conducting a campaign of ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Muslims in IOK. The Modi government is also denying 4 million Muslims of their citizenship in Assam creating 'detention centres' akin to Nazi concentration camps. The Indian Occupation Forces have also intensified their campaign of using pellet guns against women and children as well as violence and abuse of women in IOK. The entire policy of the BJP government is similar to the Nazi doctrine of ethnic cleansing, racism, fascism and genocide. Ms Chopra has publicly endorsed this Indian government position and also supported the nuclear threat issued to Pakistan by the Indian Defence Minister.

"All this goes completely against the principles of peace and goodwill that Ms Chopra is supposed to uphold as a UN Goodwill Ambassador for Peace. Her jingoism and support for violations by the Modi government of international conventions and UNSC resolutions on Kashmir, as well as support for war, including a nuclear war, undermines the credibility of the UN position to which she has been elevated. Unless she is removed immediately, the very idea of a Goodwill Ambassador for Peace becomes a mockery globally.

"Therefore, I would request that she be immediately denotified as a UN Goodwill Ambassador for Peace."

Recently Priyanka was tagged as a hypocrite by a Pakistani woman named Ayesha Malik at the BeautyCon event in Los Angeles. This was in regard to Priyanka's tweet from February 26, a day after the Balakot airstrikes in Pakistan by the Indian Air Force. Priyanka's tweet supported the move, as she had written, "Jai Hind!" and hashtagged the Indian Armed Forces.

During the event, Ayesha lashed out at Priyanka and called her a "hypocrite" for hailing the Indian Army back in February.

Priyanka had responded, "Are you done venting? Okay. War is not something I’m really fond of but I am patriotic, so I’m sorry if I hurt sentiments to people who do love me and have loved me. But I think that all of us have a sort of, middle ground that we all have to walk. Just like you probably do as well. The way that you came to me right now... girl, don’t yell. We’re all here for love."

Ayesha questioned Priyanka’s role as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador as she congratulated the Indian Armed Forces for air strikes in Balakot, Pakistan, the same day while the Indian government said that the Indian fighter jets were sent to Balakot to do away with a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist camp.

In wake of these events, Pakistan's Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari directed a letter to the United Nations, seeking the removal of Priyanka Chopra as their Goodwill Ambassador.
