College student beat to death by 13 friends

A 17-year-old boy was allegedly murdered by a gang of 13 aged between 17 and 22 years in Mumbai on Tuesday night. The incident came to light when the police nabbed three of the accused that led to a major breakthrough in the case. The remaining 10 college students are absconding and a man hunt has been launched to arrest them.

According to the police, the victim Ansh M. Agarwal was returning to the home and his 13 friends, who waylaid in Saki Naka of Andheri East brutally attacked Agarwal with iron rods, sticks and even cement bricks. His was found lying by pedestrians in a pool of blood after the accused disappeared from the scene. The injured Agarwal was rushed to the hospital and the doctors declared him dead.

The police said Agarwal allegedly used abusive and obscene language against the mother and girl friend of one of the accused.  The gang was led by Siddhant Ghosalkar. The three nabbed accused—Rudransh, S Azad and Monu—were the co-conspirators.

The police said that the remaining accused would be hiding somewhere in the vicinity and they would be arrested soon.

People are shocked on hearing the news. Whatever might be the reason, the law should not be taken into hands, opined locals. (Phani)
