Pastor arrested for trying to convert school children

A shocking incident came to light in Bangalore on Thursday when the police arrested a pastor for allegedly trying to convert as many as 23 children during a summer camp in the Garden City.

Fourteen of them were girls out of 23 children, said police. Thirty one-year-old Victor Babu, who was a native of Dharmavaram town in Andhra Pradesh advertised that a free camp that lasted for one month would be conducted for children in Bangalore. A mini-bus used to pick the children in Mahadevpura and surrounding areas near Whitefield.

The parents alleged that Victor Babu was preaching Bible and other religious verses to the children and he also made an offer of good education and other facilities if the parents of the children accepted his conditions.  The parents, who were reportedly shocked and disgusted over the offer and complaints from children that the pastor was preaching religious matter, approached the police. The local police, who plunged into the action, arrested Victor Babu and booked him under IPC Sec 295 A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings or any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs).  (Phani)
