Renowned cricketer Rahul Dravid's younger son, Anvay Dravid, was named to India’s Under-19 team on Thursday for the trip to Sri Lanka, which begins on July 4. The Junior Cricket Committee of BCCI chose the players for the India Men's Under-19 teams for this upcoming Sri Lanka tour, which includes three one-day matches and two multi-day games. Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan will serve as the captain for both the one-day and multi-day teams, while Lakshya Raichandani will assist him in both squads. Anvay is included in the One-day team as one of the two players for wicketkeeping, joining Rajat Baghel. For the multi-day games, Manav Krishna and Aryan Sandesh Sakpal have been selected as wicketkeepers.
At 17 years old, Anvay notably led the Karnataka Under-19 team to the quarterfinals in the recent Vinoo Mankad Trophy, scoring a total of 220 runs in six matches, with a top score of 82 not out. He has also played for India's Under-19 B team in a home triangular series held in Bengaluru, which included squads from India A and Afghanistan Under-19. He was later chosen for Team C in the Under-19 One-Day Challenger Trophy due to his impressive domestic performances. In 2024, Anvay’s older brother, Samit Dravid, was also picked for India's Under-19 team for a home series against Australia, but he unfortunately had to pull out due to an injury. Rahul Dravid had also played at the Under-19 level for India in the early 1990s.
